Commission calculator for bubble tea and drinks shops
A single bubble tea is one of the hardest orders to deliver profitably. The commission on a RM16 cup is under RM5, less than a rider costs. That is why the answer for drinks shops is usually pickup, not own delivery.
The example uses a low average order and a lower delivery share. Try raising the delivery share to see how quickly the saving disappears.
Your result
Moving 875 orders a month to your own channel could save about RM1,155 a month, RM13,860 a year, after payment fees, EatsVenture commission, delivery and the cost of the system.

Worked example for a bubble tea
With 2,500 app orders a month at an average of RM16.00 and 30% commission, the apps take RM12,000 a month. Moving 35% of those orders (875 a month) to your own channel stops RM4,200 of commission. After RM280 of payment fees, RM840 of EatsVenture commission, RM700 of rider cost not covered by delivery fees and RM1,225 for the ordering system and marketing, the saving is about RM1,155 a month, or RM13,860 a year. Break-even is moving about 18% of app orders.
What changes the result for a bubble tea
Move pickup orders, keep delivery on the apps
Order-ahead pickup saves most of the commission with no rider. For single-cup deliveries, the apps' pooled riders are often cheaper than your own.
Bundles change the maths
A two-cup or four-cup bundle doubles the order value but not the rider cost. A minimum order for direct delivery keeps every delivery profitable.
Students and office workers order ahead
Queue-skipping pickup is a strong reason to order direct for customers near campuses and offices.

Questions restaurant owners ask
Should a bubble tea shop run its own delivery?
Only for larger orders. Set a minimum order value for your own delivery and keep single cups on pickup or the apps.
What is a realistic share of orders to move?
Pickup-heavy shops near schools and offices often move more than delivery-led shops. Start cautiously and measure.
How much commission do GrabFood and foodpanda charge restaurants in Malaysia?
It depends on your merchant agreement, the services you use (delivery by the platform or by you, pickup) and any promotions you join. Use the rate on your own monthly statement, including any tax charged on the commission.
Why does the calculator assume only part of my orders will move?
Because it is true. The apps bring customers who would not find you otherwise. Your own channel wins the customers who already know you. Assuming every order moves makes the saving look several times bigger than it will be.
Why are food cost and packaging not in the calculation?
They are the same whichever channel the order comes through, so they do not change the saving. Only the costs that differ between the apps and your own channel are compared.
Is this calculator free?
