Commission calculator for cloud kitchens
A cloud kitchen pays commission on almost every sale, because almost every sale comes through an app. That makes it the business with the most to gain from its own channel, and the hardest one to move, because there is no shop front for customers to walk into.
The example assumes every order is delivered and a bigger marketing budget to build direct demand.
Your result
Moving 700 orders a month to your own channel could save about RM1,135 a month, RM13,620 a year, after payment fees, EatsVenture commission, delivery and the cost of the system.

Worked example for a cloud kitchen
With 3,500 app orders a month at an average of RM40.00 and 30% commission, the apps take RM42,000 a month. Moving 20% of those orders (700 a month) to your own channel stops RM8,400 of commission. After RM560 of payment fees, RM1,680 of EatsVenture commission, RM1,400 of rider cost not covered by delivery fees and RM3,625 for the ordering system and marketing, the saving is about RM1,135 a month, or RM13,620 a year. Break-even is moving about 15% of app orders.
What changes the result for a cloud kitchen
Marketing is your shop front
Without walk-in customers, you pay to bring people to your own channel. Watch the break-even share: if it is above what you can realistically move, cut marketing or wait.
Insert cards work
Every bag that leaves your kitchen can carry a card with a QR code and a reason to order direct next time. It is the cheapest marketing you have.
Repeat customers are the prize
Customers who order the same meal every week are worth moving first. Track them in your own system, not the app's.

Questions restaurant owners ask
Can a cloud kitchen survive without the delivery apps?
Few can at the start. The apps bring the first orders; your own channel keeps the repeat ones. The calculator shows the point at which your own channel pays for itself.
Why is the share to move set so low for cloud kitchens?
Because customers have no physical reason to find you outside the apps. It is a cautious example: change it to what your own results show.
How much commission do GrabFood and foodpanda charge restaurants in Malaysia?
It depends on your merchant agreement, the services you use (delivery by the platform or by you, pickup) and any promotions you join. Use the rate on your own monthly statement, including any tax charged on the commission.
Why does the calculator assume only part of my orders will move?
Because it is true. The apps bring customers who would not find you otherwise. Your own channel wins the customers who already know you. Assuming every order moves makes the saving look several times bigger than it will be.
Why are food cost and packaging not in the calculation?
They are the same whichever channel the order comes through, so they do not change the saving. Only the costs that differ between the apps and your own channel are compared.

Yes, with no sign-up. The numbers you type stay in your browser.
